This week is the Madison County Fair here in Idaho and Leo has been excited to enter some of his vegetables into the horticulture competition!
This year he submitted some red, white, and yellow onions along with a couple varieties of carrots. They looked so good on the stand! We were excited to see the next day that his onions won second overall! They were so big and healthy looking and Leo is proud of them.
The first place winner was a beautiful gourd with a great shape! They deserved the first place ribbon for such a beautiful and unique vegetable!
In the horticulture category there were vegetables and also floral arrangements. One of our daughters won third overall for her beautiful floral arrangement that was all harvested from our property. The hollyhocks are the true shining stars of the arrangement. It was fun to see her get a big ribbon, especially because she has never entered anything into the fair! When Leo saw that there was only one floral arrangement entered, he called her and suggested that she make one. She whipped one up in 20 minutes and her natural talent really showed off!
Fair’s are so much fun! Definitely a great way to see what else is going on in your area.Enjoy the pictures below! What you ever entered anything into your country fair?
